Carlos Iguina-Oharriz is a highly accomplished executive and attorney with over three decades of experience in law and finance. He has been the President of Multinational Life Insurance Company since 2013, where he led a remarkable transformation that elevated the company’s AM Best rating from a marginal C+ to A- excellent. He also serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors for both Multinational Life Insurance Company and Multinational Insurance Company, overseeing strategic governance and advancing their success in the property and life insurance market.

Before joining Multinational, Carlos founded and managed Iguina-Oharriz, Attorneys and Counsellors at Law , a premier law firm in Puerto Rico, for 17 years. During this time, he litigated several high-profile class action lawsuits and established himself as a leading legal expert. He is a certified mediator by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico and has successfully mediated numerous complex commercial litigations. In addition to his legal practice, Carlos has contributed to the development of the legal profession by teaching judges, district attorneys, and civil litigators advanced litigation techniques, further demonstrating his expertise and commitment to professional excellence.

In addition to his legal and corporate accomplishments, Carlos has served as a trusted advisor to Presidents of the Senate of Puerto Rico and several Governors of Puerto Rico. His counsel has influenced critical decisions on legal, legislative, and public policy matters, further solidifying his reputation as a distinguished leader in Puerto Rican governance. 

Carlos is also the President and part-owner of the Cangrejeros de Santurce, one of Puerto Rico’s most historic professional baseball teams. Since taking on this role, he has revitalized the team by increasing sponsorships and community support by several hundred percent. His efforts have enhanced fan engagement and solidified the team’s position as a cornerstone of Puerto Rican sports and culture.

In addition to his public and corporate roles, Carlos is a dedicated investor in real estate development, entertainment, sports, and finance. His ventures have contributed to economic growth and innovation in these sectors. Beyond his professional achievements, Carlos is deeply committed to giving back to the community. He actively supports initiatives aimed at reducing severe poverty, improving educational opportunities for children, and combating food scarcity. His philanthropic work reflects his belief in creating positive change in underserved communities.

Carlos holds a Juris Doctor from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Boston University. A proud alumnus of Colegio Maristas de Guaynabo, he is fluent in both Spanish and English. His contributions to business, law, public service, education, sports, and social development have earned him recognition as a visionary leader and advocate for progress in Puerto Rico.
